Messa: Close 2xLP (gold)

messa_x

The latest arrival, Messa with their new album “Close”. The band seems to be evolving album by album towards something bigger. This is one of the toughest albums to be released this year. I personally got to know the band with their second album and the goal would be to get their debut album on the shelf as soon as possible. Atmospheric, epic, and darker than previous albums and still one of the most amazing records I’ve spent my money on over the last year. Available for example from RecordShopX..

Here Lies Man: Ritual Divination LP +7″ (clear, orange, yellow, red melt)

here lies man

I just couldn’t skip this latest album from Here Lies Man. I have their first two records and I’ve always been excited about their way of making music. This band is so unique, their way of combining psychedelic rock, afrobeat and stoner is a great idea. Some might say that all their records sound the same .. but so do all of Volbeat’s albums, and that band isn’t my favorite, Here Lies Man is. Still available from Riding Easy Records and european customers can easily purchase this one via Kozmik Artifactz.

Huanastone: Third Stone From The Sun LP (black/white marbled)

huanastone

Once again a good example of how good music these Swedish bands produce. Huanastone is the name of this group and this seems to be their debut album, at least if Discogs is to be believed. I’m completely sold to this prog/stoner/blues combination. Clear vocals, groovy riffs, and the atmosphere on this album are near perfection. Would love to know how swedes manage to release these awesome albums one after another. Great find if I may say. Available from band’s BandCamp site. Highly recommended!

Ил: Ересь LP (dark green)

il

I don’t even know how to pronounce the name of this band but it doesn’t matter much, let the music speak for itself. The band is from Russia and I’m totally lost is this their fourth or fifth full-length (correct me if I’m wrong). Darkened, doomed sludge might be the correct categorization if this recording should be placed under some genre. Personally, I don’t care so much about genres because what the ear hears means more than compartmentalization. A great package, both musically and externally. Available through the band’s BandCamp website. Really hope that their previous records would see the daylight in vinyl format someday..

Oranssi Pazuzu: Mestarin Kynsi LP (dark green)

pazazu

I’ve been a committed fan of this band for years, since I first heard their album “Valonielu” and a song from that album called “Reikä Maisemassa” roughly translated “Hole in the Landscape”. Orange Pazuzu is known for their unique, avant-garde approach to blackened metal. Anyways, bought this one from flea-market, still sealed in shrinkwrap. Available from various distros & shops. One of the best domestic bands I have come across.

Amammoth: The Fire Above LP (yellow)

amammoth

Nice newcomer, actually I have no idea if they’ve been around for years, but this album is my first contact with this group. Heavy doomed sludge with crawling vocals, not bad performance at all. Amammoth, I welcome you with my hands wide open and hope to hear from you in the future. Special thanks to Electric Valley Records for bringing this beast into daylight. Still available from the source and while you’re visiting EVR I suggest you to check those other available records too ..

Mephistofeles: I’m Heroin LP, RE (red)

mephistofeles01

I completely missed the first edition (Cursed Tongue Records) of this album a few years back. In fact, I skipped the second edition (CTR), too, on the assumption that I will get that first press on my hands someday, that hasn’t happened, and hardly ever will. So I had to settle for this latest edition. It’s useless to introduce the band, we all know what this record is about, a filthy doomed stoner with a satanic approach. If you are not ready to use hundreds of dollars/euros/what ever currency to get the first/second edition I suggest you to purchase this latest version from Regain Records (note that it’s already a second press of this edition but it comes with woven patch.. jeee)

p.s. If someone somewhere is willing to let that CTR-version (yellow) go for a decent price, I would be more than interested..

Domkraft: Seeds LP (red)

domkraft

Damn .. A new record from Domkraft, and of course I had to get it, no doubt about it. I am very attached to the band’s apocalyptic soundscape, their way of wrapping together doom & sludge metal with some psychedelic mix. Bought this red version of the record and skipped that Box Set (way too expensive for me and I’m not ready to pay that much for a seven-inch, LP, CD, booklet, and some prints). I’m happy with this version I have (saved some money for a few other albums I have on my want list). Anyways, this record is an amazing soundtrack for the apocalypse to come. The Box Set and red-colored version are still available for example from Kozmik Artifactz.

Holy Monitor: Southern Lights LP (red/white swirl)

holy monitor

Here’s some psychedelic tunes to make your day. Holy Monitor from Greece with their third (first one I have heard) album called “Southern Lights”. This album has been under heavy rotation during this summer and for good reason. Recording stuffed with beautiful psych/kraut and even some space rock influences. This has been my soundtrack for this sick hot summer and has earned a place in both, my record shelf and my heart. Sold out from various places but Blackspin Record Store seems to have some copies still available, hurry up!

Mystic Sons: Curses And Spells LP (gold with black splatter)

mystic sons

Then there’s Mystic Sons, doomed stoner from Switzerland and holy freaking hell I fell in love with this record right from the start. I remember hearing the title track via BandCamp and I knew right away what I have to do. Nice package filled with Curses And Spells and the vinyl itself doesn’t look that bad at all. Really like these vocals on this groovy, fuzzed master piece if I may say so. Check out this release if you haven’t already done it, highly recommended! A few copies still available via BandCamp if you feel this is your thing.

Savanah: Olympus Mons LP (marbled orange)

savanah

Hey there, I’m still here but been way too Lazy with this blog of mine lately. I’ve been buying awesome records all spring and summer (about 60 records), so maybe it’s time to tell you what I’ve managed to get. So let’s start with this second full length of Savanah. It took a while to get this in my hands because I missed this while it was still available from European distributions, so I was forced to order a copy from the US. It cost a long penny but is really worth it. With this record, the band has managed to mix all the best aspects of stoner, doom, alternative rock and some psychedelic space rock. With a formula like this one you just can’t get wrong. One of those records I have been listening through the summer, in the car, at home and at work. Olympus Mons has brought light to this pandemic shadowed reality so a big thanks goes to the band for these tunes. Recommended one, of course.

Cancervo: I LP (clear)

cancervo

Instrumental, psych doomed stoner.. A few years back I didn’t even think that combination would work. I admit, too many bands have shown my assumption to have been completely wrong over the years. Cancervo from Italy is one of those. You don’t need lyrics, vocals when the music itself is giving you guidelines, letting your Imagination take the reins into your own hands. Thanks to Cancervo for wiping out my last doubts on this matter. And thanks to Electric Valley for releasing this expanding experience in physical form. Sold out from the source, Electric Valley Records but still available for example from Shiny Beast (both versions, clear and green) or from HHV (green version).

Fear Of God: Toxic Voodoo LP (red)

fear of god

Fear of God, the band’s name didn’t say anything to me a few months back. Came across this album via the Hand Of Doom label and my interest in the band woke up right away. Through Youtube, I saw the video below and I was really surprised I hadn’t come across this band before,. Perhaps the reason was that I lived in a world filled with British pop at the time of the album’s original release. Heck, in those years I missed too many great bands and recordings. Now it’s finally time to fix the mistakes and get back to basics. Great metal release and thanks to the vinyl version rightly belongs to Hand of Doom. Love Grosby’s vocals and it’s a shame she passed away too early.. Black wax version still available from the source, Hand Of Doom. Recommended!

Mollo Rilla: Viva El Camino LP (clear-black with red splatter)

mollo rilla

After seeing the music video for the song “Night Fang” from the band called Mollo Rilla, I knew I had to get to know this band better. Checked their latest album “Viva El Camino” via BandCamp and it was an easy decision to purchase the vinyl. On this release Mollo Rilla painlessly combines several genres together creating an infinitely functional rock release. I don’t know what kind of mushrooms these guys have eaten but would love to get my hands on those too. A refreshing acquaintance this indeed is. Available from the band’s BandCamp site.

Vokonis: Odyssey LP (yellow with red splatter)

vokonis

Yet again stunning release from Sweden.. Got this latest one by Vokonis a few days ago and it has spent some quality time on my turntable more than once. I’ve known this band for years now but this is actually the first physical release from them that I own. Now I’m just wondering how in hell I have managed to skip all their previous releases? This kinda progressive approach to doom/stoner is more than welcome if I may say. Highly recommended album! Available for example from Kozmik Artifactz Records and from the source, The Sign Records.

Spelljammer: Abyssal Trip LP (silver with some splatter)

spelljammer

I’m speechless. Spelljammer did it again. It’s been a while since I last dropped the band’s record on a turntable.. Shame on me because I just realized how freaking awesome band Spelljammer is and has always been. Crushing doomed stoner with vocals echoing somewhere beyond the void … can you ask for more? This came out via Riding Easy Records a few months ago and was instant must-buy for me. Obviously this color variation is long gone as well as all other special color-variations but who actually even care about colors when you can get your hands on regular black wax for example via Riding Easy Records EU store?

Fulanno: Nadie Está A Salvo Del Mal LP + Test Pressing

fulanno

Fulanno with their latest one, never letting you down. I just love their music (even though I have no idea what they are singing about). These South American bands have stole some special place in my heart nowadays. As we already know, Fulanno comes from Argentina and they have a unique approach to their doomed sludge/stoner filled way to produce these tunes. Ordered a test pressing from Interstellar Smoke Records but received a normal version instead, luckily the error was corrected by the record company immediately and I received the version I ordered with a delay of a few days. After all, I ended up redeeming the incorrectly delivered normal version as well because returning it would have been disproportionately expensive. I’m happy with both versions I have! For those who are after the vinyl version of this recording .. Discogs / Ebay are platforms because Interstellar Smoke Records has sold this out.

Earthbong: Bong Rites 2xLP (secret stash edition)

earthbong

Here’s some heavy shit in form of Earthbong. Never heard of this band before so it was time to grab myself by the neck and let these riffs tear my soul to pieces. This German band manages to crush my shine & happy world to deepest and darkest hole on earth. Released by one of my favourite labels, Black Farm Records. Because I have learned to trust the quality of certain record labels, I usually make purchase decisions without listening in advance to the records they release. It has become a way to surprise myself. And I was totally blown away with this one! For those who are interested, this is still available from the source, Black Farm Records (even though this color variation is long gone, there are still regular ones available).

Bongzilla: Weedsconsin LP (cornetto)

bongzilla

Subconsciously, I’ve been waiting years for a new album from this American sludge monster. And now that a new album unexpectedly (at least for me) came out via Heavy Psych Sounds, it was a must-buy for me. Dirty & Evil sounding sludge / stoner / doom in this format is just honey to my ears. Bongzilla will not disappoint, ever. This vinyl version sold out very quickly but there are still nice looking (and sounding) variants available for example from the source, Heavy Psych Sounds, Kozmik Artifactz, Stickman Records  just to mention a few possible marketplaces. Yeah!

La Era de Acuario: La Era de Acuario LP (clear with purple splatter)

la era de

Here we have a good example of a record that jumped straight to number one on my “wantlist” as soon as I heard the first track of the album via BandCamp. The problem, however, turned out to be that the record was already sold out from BandCamp when I found it. The debut album of this Mexican band became a total obsession for me, I had to get it one way or another. To my surprise I found a copy on the record company’s own website (Necio Records) and seems that there are still copies available. Awesome psych/space rock album and highly recommended if you are on this kinda music!
