This album by Lord Buffalo has nothing to do with stoner nor doom, and that’s just fine. Are we somewhere between folk, Americana, soul, or something? Who knows but this record.. is haunting beautiful. No words. Available from various sources, Blues Funeral Recordings, Kozmik Artifactz, etc. Recommended highly, even though you’re doomed & stoned. Give this a moment and it will last forever.
I bought this album a few months ago via Discogs. I don’t usually purchase used records without seeing but this seller is a trusted one and I had been looking for this album for a while. Now I had a chance to get this in my collection and even at a reasonable price. Devil’s Plan is floating somewhere between doom & stoner and sounds damn good. I’m happy I got this here with me now.
Woahh.. Yet another South American band, this time we are talking about Argentine duo Serpent Cobra and their debut album “Anatomy Of Abuses”. I came across this album via Interstellar Smoke Recordings while I was checking out their webshop. Little do I know about this band, I just let the music speak for itself. Nice one, different, and surely deserves a place in my collection Available via Interstellar Smoke Records.
Space, the final frontier.. Vinnum Sabbathi is offering us a journey to the stars with their latest release “Of Dimensions & Theories”. Quite impressing, instrumental stoner/space rock album from this Mexican group. Beautiful looking package and for your information, this version is now sold out but Stolen Body Records seems to have 2nd edition (Mars & Phobos) available. What are you still waiting for? Go ahead and take trip to the stars while you still can.
Öööh.. Do I know anything about this band? No. I just came across with this album while surfing around the net. This album was on someone’s top ten favorite albums list or something. I checked this out and I was sold immediately. Yeah, the band is from Sweden, surprise… Freaking awesome sounding album and I really, really love this one, period. Available from Transubstans Records.
Rosy Finch from Spain delivering some beautiful grunge/stoner/sludge influenced alternative rock or something (I’m just a simple man and it’s hard for me to categorize music styles anymore..). I bought this one alongside that Dö album from Lay Bare Recordings. Great release and this record have been under the needle more than once lately (digital version via headphones on my way to work). from the band or Lay Bare Recordings. Highly Recommended!!
And then some 70’s influenced love, this time from Cursed Tongue Records. Once again outstanding package but what else can be expected from this label? The Band is Sleepwulf and this seems to be their debut release on vinyl format. Hard-hitting 70’s rock with a hint of doom aside, with this concept you just can’t go wrong. It seems that this sold out quite fast but don’t worry, there’s repress copies available via Cursed Tongue Records and Kozmik Artifactz. Go […]
Some love from DHU Records & Fuzzed And Buzzed. Here’s one hell of a record from Canadian heavy rocking stoner group, Rough Spells. I’ve known this band for a while now but haven’t actually checked their releases before this came out, what a shame. Really happy I bought this beauty. My loyalty to DHU Records forced me to purchase this DHU exclusive version, even though there were Fuzzed & Buzzed and Band’s versions available. Sold out from DHU but Fuzzed […]
Australian desert/stoner/fuzzed/psych group delivering some delicious ear candy. Majesic Mountain Records released this one earlier this year and I grabbed a copy immediately. Been listening to this a lot since the day I got a copy delivered to my doorsteps. I’m quite sure that this record can be found on my “Highlights of 2020” list. This is totally sold out from the source, Majestic Mountain Records, but if you fancy a copy of your own then head to BandCamp!
Look what I got here, latest from Dopelord! Few years back I purchased their previous one “Children Of The Haze”, beautifull album by this doomed stoner-outfit from Poland. Now I got their latest one here with me, and I couldn’t be happier. Freaking awesome album and still available from Green Plague Records. This clear variation (limited to 150 copies) is sold out by now but you can still get your hands on that regular black wax. One of my favorite […]
Here’s a release I love so much, Chrome Ghost and their debut album, The Diving Bell. I got the cassette version of this album last year via Transylvanian Tapes and it was love at first sight. This is doom with a mixture of post-metal, drone, maybe some sludge.. A little hard for me to describe what this is about, you have to hear it yourself. Vinyl version came via Seeing red Records earlier this year (two color variations both limited […]
Hmm.. Here I am tryng to figure out how many outstanding bands & records there are I haven’t heard of and how many I will miss?. This release from Italian band, Humulus, could have been one of those but luckily that did not happen. So, how did I come across with this psych/desert/stoner release? Well, going through Kozmik Artifactz latest mailorder additions… and checking them out via BandCamp & Youtube. Really like this record, atmosphere, vibes and clean singing (a […]
Yet another great release from a Finnish stoner/doom/sludge outfit. This one is from Demonic Death Judge, a band I have never heard of before (shame on me). Actually, I know the band by the name but somehow I have managed to skip every damn release and tune from this group for years now. A few months ago I saw the official video of “Filthy as Charged” and I was sold! Filthy, groovy… and those vocals. Awesome package. Still available from […]
Well, it took a little longer to purchase this one than I thought. That mistake has been taken care of now. I bought this blue version (even though in the picture it looks like regular black version) from Lay Bare Recordings. Döömed psychedelic/space/stoner is the thing here with this release. I have never had that much of fate for Finnish stoner/doom (or metal) genres overall but obviously, something is happening… At least between my ears. Great record this surely is. […]
This record has been spinning a lot while I have been isolating myself from the outside world. The band is Witchfinder from France and this is their second vinyl release called Hazy Rites. I don’t know anything about this band but holy hell do I like this album. Doomed stoner/sludge is the name of the came here and the title of the album tells all you need to know. I like this album a lot and I’m a little confused […]
And surprise, yet another psychedelic/doomed stoner/sludge outfit from, where else than Sweden! My journey with Domkraft started with their debut album five years ago and still, we are heading the same direction. I haven’t missed any of their releases during these years (some most limited versions still on my wantlist though..). Highly recommended band if you haven’t checked them out already (which I doubt). This twelve-inch is released by Blues Funeral Recordings and still available from the source (most limited […]
Me and my demented mind… I bought this debut album from The Graviators last year (together with their second one, Evil Deeds) via Discogs. Great band, mind-blowing hard rocking stoner, and it’s a shame they do not exist anymore. I have been wondering for years how in hell they are so many outstanding bands coming from Sweden, not that many from Finland. Maybe it’s the Gulf of Bothnia separating us Finns from the rest of civilization leaving us isolated with […]
Haa… about a year ago I got Yatra’s debut album “Death Ritual” and now I got their second one, Bloof of The Night, here with me. This latest one is released by STB Records and I chose Obi-version just because it looked nicer than other color-variations. For those who are not familiar with this band, Yatra is a little darker mix of sludge/stoner/doom with a hint of Death metal in their sound. Beautiful album and really nice to see STB […]
Yet again one from my million miles long “wantlist”. This time Sundrifter and their space-fuzzed debut full-length (on vinyl) called Visitations. Grabbed this copy via Discogs (thanks to the awesome seller) and it arrived in mint condition. Brilliant album and one thing that bothers me (in the best possible way) are those vocals, reminds me of some artist I just can’t get to my mind. Like I said, great album and I’m thankful I finally managed to include this to […]
Managed to get my sweaty hands on this dirty release too (thanks to Creep Purple). At one point I promised to myself that I won’t miss any Mephistofeles release but that promise has proved a little difficult to keep. Just can’t keep tracking what label is releasing their upcoming material next, and in what format. Well, I’m glad that I got this one. Been listening to this band since I purchased their debut via Black Farm Records four years ago […]
Fell in love with this band after purchasing their previous album “From Elsewhere” at the end of 2019. Now I got their latest one here with me. And my love for this band is growing and growing. Awesome album, leaving me speechless. Psychedelic/stoner or something… A record like this one is for listening and my words are meaningless just because I just can’t find the right ones to describe how amazing this album is. I couldn’t find a copy from […]
Yep.. This band is also one of those I have managed to miss/skip earlier. The point is that there are so many amazing bands/albums floating around and I just don’t have time to check all those out, it’s just impossible. Cursed Tongue Records is one of those labels I follow closely and lately, I have purchased nearly everything the label has released. This latest from Marijannah came through CTR and obviously, I was interested (actually I purchased this album without […]
Went through my latest purchases and spotted this one I got before Christmas.. Been a little long since my last blog update (been sick for a couple of weeks and trying to do my work from home due to this global issue with Corona). Once again a band I haven’t listened earlier but now that mistake has been solved. I bought this record from Kozmik Artifactz after listening a few songs via BandCamp. Nice fuzzed/psychedelic/space/stoner album and now I’m forced […]
Took a little longer than I expected to include this one to my collection. Strangers by Obsidian Sea had been on my “wantlist” since it was released and now I managed to grab this multicolored version via Ripple Music’s sale about a month ago. Name of the game here is stoner/doom with obvious 70’s influences. Vocal work on this album reminds me of something so familiar but I just can’t figure it out.. Recommended one this surely is. Still available […]
A few years back I purchased Lunar Funeral’s “Sex On Grave” on cassette via Hellas Records (if I remember right) and been digging it since the day the tape arrived. I also have to admit that this band is one of few Russian stoner/doom outfit I have ever heard of. Anyways, Forbidden Face Records has put out this beautiful album on vinyl recently and surprise surprise I just had to purchase this wax version too. My copy is one with […]
If I remember right, this was the first record I received via Postal delivery this year. Once again DHU Records managed to surprise me with an awesome release. I bought this one on cassette version a few years ago and if I remember right, there was some kind of crowdfunding project around this album (vinyl version) back then. That project never achieved its goal and the vinyl version was waiting to be released by some proper label in a distant […]
As usual, I’m a little lazy when it comes to split releases but when I spotted this Cough / Windhand split via Discogs,, I just couldn’t help myself, Bought this as used and got it in pristine condition, great score if I may say. Brilliant release and if you listen very carefully you can even hear me rubbing my dirty hands with joy!
Still Remember missing this one when it was released on cassette format. I was even ready to purchase it via Discogs at a premium price if only it would have been available lucky I didn’t. Quite honestly I didn’t expect this to be released on vinyl but here it is now. I purchased this color variation just because it looked quite nice. Still available via Kozmik Artifactz. Great band!
It wasn’t that long time ago I purchased Black Magick SS cassette bundle from Creep Purple and now this label blew up the bank by releasing this compilation on vinyl format. This has been on heavy rotation since I got it and still going strong. Great compilation and huge respect to Creep Purple for releasing awesome stuff on both, vinyl and cassette format. Don’t know how limited this is but it sold out quite fast. Those who missed this release, […]
It took only four years from Bison Machine to release their second album. In this case time itself is irrelevant because here we have a great hard (retro) rocking heavy album. Bought their debut album in 2015 (self-released version) and listened to it a lot during that year, but then years passed by and the record faded into oblivion.. But now it’s time to drag forgotten treasure back into the sunlight, next to the latest one. Seas of Titan still […]
Here’s some 70’s influenced hard rockin’ stoner in your face! The band is from where else than Sweden, I wasn’t even surprised about that fact. This is Hazemaze’s second full-length and after listening to this several times in the row I’m forced to go after their debut one. This is released by mighty Cursed Tongue Records on mint green (sold out) and on orange vinyl. Orange version is still available from the source, CTR and via BandCamp. If you prefer […]
This Australian psychedelic/stoner group blew my mind a few months ago. One of those bands I have never heard of before and I came across this album while surfing around BandCamp. One of my favorite albums from 2019 (note that this is EU version), even though this was originally released in 2018. The band has released a new album last year and yes, I purchased that too (more about that one later). This one is still available via Copper Feast […]
Doomed sludge/stoner outfit from UK greeting us with their latest full-length. A few years ago I bought their previous album “Skullossus” and like that one a lot. This new one has been on quite heavy rotation lately and yes, this sounds damn good. Hidden treasure this is for sure. Limited to 50 copies on purple, 50 copies on green and 150 copies on black wax. All versions are still available via their BandCamp site. Just check this out!
Some dirty stuff from Argentina. About a year and a half ago I bought The Black Furs debut album via Golden Dawn Recording and that filthy doomed sound is still alive and breathing! I got me this green variant and bought also cassette version, so that might tell how much I like this album. There’s something strange happening in Argentina for sure, first Mephistofeles and now The Black Furs. Both versions of this album (cassette & vinyl) were available via […]
My first touch with this band and not that bad touch at all. The Space Between Worlds needs serious spinning time because this is not some background music. There are so many layers on this record, desert/stoner/blues/something which is hard to categorize. All elements for the stunning listening experience. Available via Blues Funeral Recordings and from the band for example. Recommended.
Whatam! And here we got one miserable record. Latest from my favorite country duo. Dark and hopeless is Those Poor Bastards path, as it has always been. I have been a fan of TPB for years and one thing is for sure, overwhelming despondency. Great record and still available via Tribulation Recording Co. I missed the most limited color variation but have to say that this “poisoned” one looks awesome. Oh, and check out their “Satan is Watching” t-shirt (the […]
Horseburner? An obscure name for the band.. Well, here’s The Thief, their third album and the first I own. Spotted this band via Ripple Music webstore, listened to it for a few moments and the decision was made. Heavy psych/stoner/sludge/doom, you name it. Great record and I’m going to let the needle follow the grooves numerous times during upcoming weeks. Ripple Music has sold this color variation out a long time ago but hey, there are still white-colored copies (ltd. […]
uuuhh.. Yet another great release from DHU, this time full-length from Black Road. This Chicago based band has managed to sneak into my heart & record collection quite easily. Few years back Dark Hedonistic Union released Black Road’s twelve-inch EP and I’ve been waiting since that release new material from the band (managed somehow to skip their 7″ inch, shame on me). Bluesy, heavy, fuzzed stoner with Suzi’s hypnotizing voice. Timeless beauty this surely is. Vinyl versions of this album […]
The third album I have managed to get from this freaking beautiful band (missed that previous one..). Merlin has traveled so far from their first album, there’s saxophone, flute, accordion, trumpet.. and still this is Merlin. The outstanding album floating somewhere between space/stoner/psychedelic/doom & stoner. The Company records have managed to release a marvelous package and I have to say it’s worth every penny I invested in it. Splattered one is sold out but you still can get yellow variation […]
Oh boys & girls how long I waited for this to arrive. If I remember right I pre-ordered this Stonerror album nearly six months ago and it arrived finally few months ago. The band is from Poland and they know exactly what they’re doing, smooth stoner rock. I suggest you check out this band if you haven’t already done that. Kick-ass record this certainly is. Available via the band’s BandCamp site.
I know that this band has already released two albums but this eight-inch is the first I have bought / listened. Oh, and I’m loving it. DHU released this some time ago and after checking the band I had to have this (and obviously I’m going after those two full-lengths too). This awesome 8″ is limited to only 66 copies so I must say I’m lucky to have it. Have to admit that I was about to skip this […]
This record has nothing to do with comfortable music, rock or nearly anything you usually like to listen. It’s electronic, minimal and abstract. Olento is an album that has shaped my music taste more than any other record. Sähkö Recordings released this album by late Mika Vainio first time in 1996 only on CD format (I can still remember where I bought my copy). A few months ago I got a note that this has been pressed on vinyl (finally) […]
The year has changed and I’m still going through my last year’s purchases. This monstrous album from Saint Karloff (released by Majestic Mountain Records) was one of those I waited anxiously to arrive. Awesome record even though color variation wasn’t what I expected. Unique marbled vinyl (limited to 100 copies) was turned to transparent blue in some part of the production but so what? It’s still unique to me. Just checked out around the internet and it seems that all […]
Here’s a tape you should check out. Evilspeak with same-titled cassette. This CS is filled with grooving, doomed sludge/stoner and I love this one so much. Have to say that I’m really happy I bought this one and if you ask me, I would love to see this on vinyl too. Give this one a minute or two and you’ll see what I mean. Show your support and purchase the cassette from their BandCamp page. Nice one!!
DHU Records hitting hard once again. This time releasing a heavy fuzzed, doomed stoner album by The Red Widows. Actually, this one arrived some time ago but I’ve been sooooo lazy posting my new purchases here. Anyways, with this album, The Red Widows manages to wrap its haunting fingers around my neck while pulling me deeper and deeper into its fuzzed oblivion.. Great release from the great label. There’s a good reason why I keep purchasing DHU releases one […]
Better later than ever. The Graviators, I have come across the name of this group a few times but never bothered to check any of their records before. Been following some Facebook groups about stoner & doom and saw Robert Black (a guy behind one of my favorite DIY labels, DHU Records) posting a picture of this album there. After staring that picture a while I thought maybe I should check out this band at last. Damn! It was love […]
Ain’t this a nice piece of doomed/fuzzed stoner? Black Smokers is the title of the debut album by Canadian heavy monster, Lochness. The record label behind this evil abomination is called From The Urn. Earlier this year From The Urn released awesome album by Marécages and the decision to buy this one was quite easy. This “die hard” version is already sold out but there are a few regular black colored versions available from the band’s BandCamp page. If you like […]
Waited this one to arrive quite a long time and it didn’t help that it was stuck on customs a few extra days. Clouds Taste Satanic and their latest doomed/instrumental/stoner filled full-length. Found this band a couple of years ago and this one is the third album I got from this stunning group. Really nice package overall, splattered vinyl, patch, zippo-like lighter & rolling paper… This “Halloweed” edition is sold out but there’s a few other variations still available via […]
Creep Purple Records released this 3 cassette bundle from Black Magic SS last week and I purchased these tapes without knowing anything about this band or their music. The fact is that I have purchased all cassettes this label has released just because I trust blindly that I get quality stuff. And once again I was right. This band is awesome! As I mentioned before, this is a totally new group for me and I’m happy I managed to get […]
Holy sh**.. !! I picked this one from the local post office a few days ago (after paying taxes etc..). This is Firebreather, crushing doomed stoner monster, from (surprisingly) Sweden. Pure ear candy from the first track to the last one. Released by Riding Easy Records and this variation is limited to 75 copies (should have been red with black splatter but my version is more or less just red). All color variations still available from the source and if […]
