Interstellar Smoke Records has managed to release a bunch of awesome records during the year. One of them is this “Red Tide,” from Temple Of The Fuzz Witch. Operating somewhere beyond stoner/occult/doom & psych, this album manages to provide very heavy atmosphere and that is just what we are after. I got this debut album from Slomosa a few months ago. This rocking garage/stoner group comes from Norway and has done great job with this groovy/fuzz record. I can distantly here some echoes from 90´s desert rock on this album and it brings a smile to my face. Great start to this band and I look forward to what they will accomplish with their upcoming records, fingers crossed that there will be some. Available for example via Bandcamp & Apollon Records. Ain’t this a some bad-ass release? Surely I can feel how evil oozes from the grooves of this vinyl. This album could be some kind of soundtrack for some obnoxious human-sacrifising cult.. and I like it, a lot. Managed to grab this very limited version just because on the day of release I waited patiently in front of the screen, pressing the F5-button compulsively. Yet another great record & band, surprisingly from Sweden. Electric Hydra with their hard rocking self-titled debut album. Throughout years I have been wondering how come it’s possible that there comes so many awesome bands from that particular country, who knows. My journey started with Entombed and here we go again, this time with Electric Hydra. This beauty was released by Majestic Mountain Records (one of those awesome labels you should follow) and you can grab a copy for example from Season of Mist, Sound Pollution, Experience Vinyl & Cosmic Peddler. Go for it!!
Hell, picture of this record (with BandCamp link) was posted to Sludge/Doom/Stoner Vinyl Collectors -group on Facebook about 3 months ago. Never before had I even heard about this band but after listening to only a opening track from this album, I was sold. Quality stoner from Sweden and this is kinda music I love to listen while driving. Tried to find a copy via Kozmik, checked out Discogs (a few copies were available) but managed to find a mint copy from Greatest Hits Mailorder! Great record and if the rumors of upcoming album are true, I will be here waiting.
Got this abomination from Sludgelord a few weeks ago.. Dirty, evil and heavy as hell. This surely is not the easiest record to listen through. Actually this recording was released a few years ago on cassette version. I missed the tape back then but now I’m happy owner of “Toad King”on most precious format, vinyl. Still available from the source, Sludgelord. Recommended one if you want to let your speakers grind your brains to porridge, like I do!
Some time a go I purchased LáGoon’s album “Maa Kali Trip” and promised to myself that I’m gonna hunt down all recordings this band has released. Well, I didn’t have to wait too long because Interstellar Smoke Recordings released this one. Really difficult to describe which genre this band could fit into, some kinda mix of surf-garage-skate-stoner-doom or something. But who cares, record sounds amazing and I’ll continue hunting down those previous ones. Available via BandCamp (Interstellar has sold out copies they had).
Here is one of the most played records in our household recently, Sun Of Grey and their album “Outerworld”. Outstanding beauty filled with doom-psych-stoner from first groove to very last one. Been listening to this one while driving to work and back, daily for a few weeks now and loving it more and more. I spotted this band via Captain Beyond Zen (Facebook) and bought a copy at that same day. Don’t know about the limitation of this vinyl but the band seems to have some copies still available on their BandCamp site. Go for it!
One of those records I nearly missed, Fostermother and their self-titled debut album. This band sounds amazing with their doomed stoner, flavored with some heavy vibes. I bought my copy from Cosmic Peddler (states) although I knew some copies would be coming up for sale at Kozmik Artifactz here in Europe. Surprise, surprise those copies came available at Kozmik just a few days after my order arrived .. That’s how it goes. Well, money well spent and I’m happy with my copy. Limited to 50 copies on black wax, 50 copies on golden vinyl and 100 copies on gold/black marbled vinyl (seems that Peddler has black version, autographed, still available) Recommend one, so don’t wait too long..
Some really nasty doomed sludge/stoner from Australia brought to you by Black Farm Records. Band is called Lucifungus and this is their second album named as “Derek”. Debut album Akuma Kin stole my attention a few years ago (still under some heavy rotation) and when this new one was announced the purchase decision was obvious. This is “secret stash” edition, limited to 100 copies, and sad to say it’s sold out (surprise, surprise) but you still can grab a orange-colored version from the source, Black Farm Records. Recommended!
Yes, I bought this one even though “ten-inch” vinyl ain’t my favorite physical format, but now we are talking about Devil’s Witches and I haven’t had that much luck with releases of this artist, ever. All releases have sold out in the blink of an eye except this one because the edition was large enough, about 1,500 copies (thanks for that, I finally had a chance to grab a copy without high blood pressure and extra heartbeats). And the record itself, two awesome tunes and that second one.. I’m speechless. Don’t know much about this artist but I just let the music speak for itself, ain’t that the main reason why songs are made for? Share a few minutes of your time and you know what I’m trying to say. Thanks to artist & label (Majestic Mountain Records) for giving us an opportunity to grab a copy without worrying of those Discogs/Ebay prizes. Beautiful release from the start to the very end!
