Last week as I walked down to the local record store I already knew what I was about to purchase. This record from Eyehategod had been hanging on the wall there about 3-4 months and now it was time to take it home. Now I have to admit that this is my first Eyehategod album ever… Better later than ever though. Now that I’m listening this album it’s quite strange how in hell I have managed to skip this band […]
One of those treasures I managed to purchase along that Deicide’s debut album. Pristine condition considering the age of the album. Haven’t seen a copy this clean in years. Yeah, it’s Death and like all previous albums this is pure gold. I bought this album when it was released and sold it when CD’s took over. Now it’s here and I’m one more step closer to my goal to own all those precious I once had. Death is Death, one […]
At last, my precious has found its way back to home. Use to have this Deicide’s debut album years & years ago (in my opinion one of the greatest debut albums in this scene) but was fool enough to let it go back then. A month ago I joined to this facebook group dedicated to metal music and spotted one member listing records he had for sale.. Damn, this was must buy and when it arrived (along with other treasures, […]
Been waiting (secretly) for this repress for some time and finally it has been done by Svart/20 Buck Spin. Actually I even got that original copy in my hands some time ago but had to return it because condition of the cover didn’t meet my standards (bought used copy and cover was graded NM- but was more like VG). Usually I skip these represses but sometimes it’s almost impossible to track down decent original copies and then I have to […]
Here’s one album that altered my state of mind years & years ago, A-T-O-M-I-Z-E-R. My journey with Steve Albini started around 1994 when John Peel played “At Action Park” on his radio show (still have some of those shows recorded on cassette). Soon I discovered Rapeman & Big Black. This album, Atomizer, has been one of my all-time-favorite. If you haven’t heard Big Black before I suggest to check this one out, you either love it or then you hate it. […]
Haa.. one more step closer to my goal collecting back these oldies I once had. Found this Nocturnus album from my local record store and there was no excuse not to grab it along. As some of you might know I’m a huge fan of Death Metal from 90’s and really ashamed that I sold my entire vinyl collection.. Surely I wasn’t the only one who made that mistake. Great album from that era and really glad I found this in […]
Massacre on my mind. After listening our downstairs neighbor yelling on the phone, his walking, his banging, rattling, clinking, drilling, continuous furniture moving around the apartment, his arguing with his wife in the middle of the night.. for months. The only word in my mind is massacre. In other words this record (played loud) has helped me a little to keep me sane. I found this nearly pristine copy from the local record dealer (it’s from his personal collection) and it […]
Those were the days my friend.. Actually this is the only Pantera’s record I have ever own, and that’s fine to me (been thinking of purchasing “Vulgar Display Of Power” for ages though.. 25 years ain’t that long or is it?). I still remember how hard this album hit me when I was still on the brink of my teenager years. Times when music really ment something and your purchase decision based on the few following things: the cover of the […]
Fraten was released on CD format back in -97 and it was about the time some one to release this on vinyl, Full Contact Records is that company. Since their debut album, Circle has been pushing boundaries of all possible genres and this one was not exception. Experimental krautrock, mesmerizing hypno-rock. Circle has always been one of my favorite ones (at least their first five records) and still looking for the copy of “Hissi”, that second full-length of theirs. This orange-colored […]
This has been on my rack for ages and just realized that I haven’t mentioned this masterpiece here on my blog. Thing is that I didn’t knew anything about this band when I heard “Against The Grain” for the very first time. Nine years and still I love this album, noise rock, hardcore at it’s best. Should spin this more often just because.. this rocks. This could be little hard to find these days but if you after a copy, […]
Some Grief to this early morning. Found this pristine, unplayed copy from the local record store some time ago (warehouse find/or from the owners own collection). Have to say that there’s no better way to wake up to new day than a pint of Guinness and a full-length of crushing doom. Thing I love the most is that he prize I paid or this was ridiculous compared to those Discogs prizes. I had this on CD format years ago and […]
I got this one from Richard yesterday (and yes, Richard, I have enjoyed this one a lot!). Instrumental folktronica, as this beauty is described on BandCamp. Limitation is very low (about 20 copies or few more) and sold out already. Maybe he should release his digital long play on vinyl too? I would certainly purchase a copy. Recommended one and if You ever find a copy, do not hesitate to purchase it. Yes! —
Ain’t this one a little strange/weird release? Two tunes on this vinyl and may I say that both of them will take you somewhere where no one has gone before. The cover image itself is worth a thousand words when you try to describe the sound waves on this vinyl. This surely is hard record to handle but same time it’s so relaxing. Weird and beautiful world of sounds. I bought this one from Discogs, sealed, and paid only $4.00.. […]
Bought this years ago, at the time Twin Peaks was shown first time on television. If I remember right I paid about €1-2 (current currency) from this record (discount price at the time when CD records took over). Brought this with me few days ago from my childhood home (been gathering dust about 20 years on my mom’s record rack). Nowadays this record seems to be some kind of collector’s item, or maybe those Discogs prices are high because of […]
And finally I can hold this little treasure pressed on vinyl in my hands. This means that I now own a copy of every vinyl release from Horseback (but with Locrian I still have work to do). Two of my favorite bands on the same little disc, can I ask for more? This is also Discogs purchases and I have to say that I got it at decent price. Limited to 300 copies and seems to be little hard to […]
“What if you just got rid of your records and stereo equipment?” What a refreshing record this is! Noise/experimental/free improvisation record with awesome song titles! This record is surely for those of us who are not afraid to try something new. Hey, I paid $6.00 for this golden piece of abstract music (one of those Discogs purchases that came today). Limited to 300 copies, recommended release indeed! —
Third album (2xLP) I got from that package I purchased via Discogs. Actually I had no idea about this album, released by Important Records, when I purchased this but it only cost me $6.00 and record like this would easily cost about €20 or more here where I’m from. As I’m writing this, album is playing on the background and I have to say; money well spent. This is experimental, electronic /ambient album and I like it. This little treasure was […]
More Discogs purchases, Gärden Söund and their album “Black Summit”. Sounds familiar, maybe because this band is collaboration of two fine bands, Barn Owl & Eternal Tapestry. For me this album is an excellent example of droned psychedelic/ritual rock (or something like that). I like this one and paid only $7.00 to get it, nice deal. Limited to 400 copies and can be easily find a copy from Discogs like I did. Love this one. —
Actually I have this record already on black vinyl (black copy that is limited to 300 copies, this clear one is limited to 100 copies), but I couldn’t resist of purchasing this clear one from Discogs (at very reasonable price). Ambient this is, experimental and somehow this album is a great soundtrack for these last days of summer.. nice one and recommended, surprisingly. You can find a copy easily from Discogs, at good price if you are interested. —
It took a while to arrive but today it arrived. There were some delivery problems etc. along the way but most of all, it was my bad I ordered this from Australia (I should have done more research and order a copy little nearer, from Europe). Well, the main thing is that it’s here now and was worth to wait. Epic mixture of stoner/sludge/doom/drone/psychedelic rock. I have been playing this album the whole day since it arrived and every time […]
According to Discogs someone actually did, last month. Album is “Jet Set Siempre 1º” by Clive Tanaka Y Su Orquesta. Few hours ago I was going through my collection listed on Discogs and noticed that a copy of this album was sold there for $270.. Even though I’m not ready to let my copy go, I have to admit that with prize like this I would have considered seriously selling mine too (just imagine in my mind how many records I […]
And this one.. Love at the first sight. Of course I was familiar with all these Portishead, Massive Attack and Tricky things back then, but hearing this at the first time was quite shaking experience. There will always be a place for this duo in my old and frustrated heart. Oh, now I have this beauty on vinyl (limited to 1000 numbered copies on green marbled vinyl). This has been repressed by MOV and I choose this copy just because […]
Here is one of those records from my past. I still remember how this album touched my heart at the time I was taking my first steps towards the adulthood, moving away from my childhood home etc. Excellent record and now I had a chance to get this on vinyl format, at last. This is repress from Music On Vinyl and I choose to purchase this because I just wanted a pristine copy, not used one from Ebay or Discogs. […]
I got this one today, bought it from Ebay few weeks ago. Strange thing is that this was still sealed, in mint condition and cost me £14.36 shipping cost included. Not bad deal at all considering that this was released about 12 years ago and I haven’t seen any copies of this one in years. I know that this band is/was very hard one to chew for some HC fans. I do not mind about those “poser” talks because I […]
And this beauty I picked up earlier today from post office. I crew up with speed/trash/death/grind metal and I clearly remember how amazed I was when I came across with this band for the first time and specially with this record, Last Warrior. This Polish band played trash metal with heart. I loved the album cover art and the tunes. Then I crew old and became boring. But now that mistake is corrected and I can hold this long-lost friend […]
Found this beauty while I was going through my seven-inches. Used to listen quite a lot this band years ago and I was surprised that I even still have this. If I remember right, I got this from a friend 1994-1995 with their full length, Further (that one I have sold years ago and regret it with my full heart). I do not know is this post-rock/ space-rock / art-pop or what but I still like their music. Maybe I […]
Deadbolt.. hmm. I bought this from Discogs few weeks ago. Many years ago I had this on my wantlist and suddenly I came across with this now, and I had to buy this. There’s was something evil and wicked with a title song years ago and still is. This obviously is not a collector’s item or something but I like this one and I’m glad that I got it now. No more no less. —
Oldies but goldies (actually not that old). There’s no doubt about that Steve Albini is one of the major trailblazers when talking about noise-rock. Big Black, Rapeman and Shellac, Oh I love that noise. This is the latest (last?) full length from Shellac and as usual, I love this release like I love nearly everything this man has released (we must not forget that Albini is nowadays better known as producer). So, the album is great and so is the […]
This post is just to remind us all how amazing band The Afghan Whigs is, and to remind us all that this band is releasing a new album “Do to the Beast” within few months via SubPop. I suggest you to pre-order copy of this new album as soon as you can from SubPop, you may have a chance to get The Afghan Whigs tour poster signed by Greg Dulli himself! Here is a new video from this upcoming album! […]
I’m was just going through my seven-inch collection and I found this. Oh, treasures from the past, those good old days. Chrome Cranks presenting their awesome seven-inch, “Way-out Lover”. This recording has a huge sentimental value for me. Good old straight Garage-Surf-Rock’n’Roll. I should hunt down some of their long plays as well.. —
Oh, it’s nice to pay a visit to grandma. Earlier today I went to local record store hunting some treasures.. Well, it was not that glorious experience but I did find this weird little seven-inch from Dr. Gunni (this guy is from Iceland so it’s obvious that this 7″ is filled with some strange tunes). This is his first EP and released by Bad Vugum (strange underground record label from Finland) and I’m glad that I got this now, finally. […]
And with this one I’m very happy!! This came today from Mondo. Some of you who have been following this blog of mine know that I got this record few months ago with nasty looking seam splits. I was not that pleased with it (you can read about that here and here). But now, I’m very pleased about Mondo’s customer services (especially Thanks to Mo!). This replacement album came records taken out of the cover and in perfect condition (and […]
Last one of these three Mono albums that came today. There are two things that I usually avoid purchasing vinyls, compilations and live albums. And now I had purchased both.. And actually this live album does not differ that much from any studio albums and hey, I got DVD also included with this one. Limitation of this one is 500 copies on red, 500 copies on blue and 2000 copies on black vinyl. If you are ever going to purchase […]
And this compilation also arrived today (even though I’m not tat big fan of compilations etc.). Limitation of this is 1000 copies, pre-ordered copies cam on this color and then there is 2000 copies on black vinyl floating around. Compilation that shows how this band has evolved during those years. Not bad purchase at all, I think so.
Managed to update my Mono collection with few new items. This is one of those I got today. As we all know this is Japanese post-what-ever band, and I have been fan of this orchestra for few years now (since “Hymn To The Immortal Wind”). Got this one (and two other albums) in quite decent prize. This is limited to 500 copies on green & blue vinyl (Temporary Residence pre-order item). There is also standard black vinyl variation and it’s […]
Just another record from the past. Been hunting this down years (well, not that active though). Awesome record from this trio, Stuart Gray (Lubricated Goat etc.), Kat Bjelland (Babes In Toyland) and Russel Simins (Jon Spencer Blues Explosion). What else can one ask. Recommended and it’s finally mine… mine… uuh.
Had to make exception with this band and their CD (just found this old friend hidden in shoe box where I have stored my past treasures). I bought this years ago and still this might be the best post-rock/instrumental album ever (in my opinion). This one makes my heart smile. I really do not know if this is available on CD anymore but if you are interested, you could try to purchase this via their website or if you prefer digital, head […]
Actually this update is about Necro Deathmort’s upcoming 12″ “EP1”. But let’s get back in time few years.. I bought this CD from Bandcamp few years ago and I was (still am) convinced about awesomeness of this album. Had to say that I spent numerous hours sitting in the train listening this with my headphones on. Then few days ago I read Tweet (thanks to “themightychew”) about their upcoming 12″ on vinyl. There is no question, I had to […]
And of course I have this one. If you are familiar with Steve Albini and his bands (Shellac, Rapeman and Big Black) you might know that as a big fan I must have these records. Lovely boxset and this should be still quite easy to find from any good record store.
And here is maybe the greatest artist in minimal electronic scene (and this is purely my own opinion). Man behind this is Mika Vainio, other half of Pan Sonic (formerly known as Panasonic). I was totally blown away when I first time heard “Vakio” by Panasonic (Pan Sonic). It was something totally new to me. This is repress of this EP and you can easily find this from Discogs. Sähkö Recordings has sold this out but you can find something […]
Little older Denovali release this time. Well, this could fit in “post-rock-metal-etc..” category but I do not care about those things. This sounds amazing (well, I’m so big fan of Denovali releases that every record they put out is masterpiece). I know that there’s millions of Post-something bands but you should try this one. Love. Limited to 100 copies on ultraclear vinyl with white & black splatter, 100 copies on grey vinyl and 300 copies on clear vinyl. This is long […]
And here it is, the winner! Even though this ain’t the original copy (but 2010 unofficial release) I still damn love this album! Record full of awesome songs and so dark and hopeless. Original vinyl version is so damn expensive that I have to settle with this one. This is The Album. And there is, nor never will be song like “Black Wings”
And this EP holds in my opinion the greatest song ever; “Who Will Love Me Now?” I have been a big fan of Polly Jean forever and when I heard this song first time.. it is so sad and hopeless.. Awesome song. Thanks Polly and John, you have made my life more miserable than it was before :D Absolute love!!
This band (from Sweden) has something special. Album was originally released on CD at 2005 and thanks to Denovali, on vinyl at 2009. Awesome band that mixes post-rock elements to their sadness filled indie rock. This is limited to 190 copies on clear vinyl with grey haze and 320 copies on clear vinyl. You can get your hands on clear one (special offer) via Denovali. Recommended.
This was the other Eleni Karaindrou album that I mentioned on my earlier post. There are moments when I like to listen these albums, calm moments that we all have in our life. We all have our opinions about music, records etc. These are records I like to listen, as I like to listen Bolt Thrower or Portal. It’s music that matters. Love and respect.
Hmm.. and why do I have this record? If I remember right, it was 17 years ago (when I was little younger..) that I found myself buying present for my mom (Ulysses’ Gaze by Eleni Karaindrou in CD format). Shopkeeper was so convincing that he nearly forced me to buy few more albums by Eleni on vinyl :) And yes, I still got both. Love at first sight!
And this one, bought this years ago and “never” have had time to get familiar with this. Have to update that fact now. Great band. Even though their album “Salvation” is my all time favorite album, this is a beautiful piece of art. I think this was limited to 1000 copies on black vinyl, there seems to be also color version floating around and prizes are floating somewhere beyond Jupiter and Neptune. Black version is more easily to find and […]
The reason why I wanted this collection was mainly Sonic Youth’s version of “Superstar”. I never was so big fan of Sonic Youth but their version of this beautiful song.. pure love! I still use to listen this song time to time, just to realize how years go by but I don’t grow up :) Lovely compilation indeed.
Well, in my opinion “Oceanic” is the best release this band ever made. I’m not saying that this is somehow bad album, I just prefer “Oceanic” better. Isis is Isis as we all know. Bought this few years ago from Discogs and prize tag was very reasonable. This is from first press, limited to 400 copies. There’s also 100 copies on clear blue, 1000 copies on yellow and 1500 copies on black vinyl. Don’t even know how many times this […]
