Morbid Angel: Blessed Are The Sick LP

morbid_00

Have to admit that it has been way too long since my last blog update. Been very busy at work the last few months and now that summer is already at the door my hands have been tied up in gardening. But let’s get straight to the point, a few months back I finally managed to get this classic into my hands, Morbid Angel and their second full-length “Blessed Are The Sick.” A great album in its own category and a welcome addition to my collection. Oh, and this is the original version and I got it at a pretty affordable price. I’m satisfied.

La Mancha Negra: La Mancha Negra LP

mancha

I have to admit that it’s pretty nice to finally get my hands on a record I ordered about five years ago. The copy I ordered never reached its destination (no thanks to the band) and no one ever bothered to answer my queries about where the record might travel. I purchased this copy through Discogs.. And I still really love this crappy swamp-blues / garage sound La Mancha Negra offers to its listener. Not maybe the best album in the world but a very enjoyable experience, still. If you ever fancy a copy of this record.. avoid their BandCamp site and try to get it somewhere else (if  you are not ready to wait years to your copy to arrive). Anyways, recommended one.

The Graviators: The Graviators 2xLP (marbled olive green)

graviators02

Me and my demented mind… I bought this debut album from The Graviators last year (together with their second one, Evil Deeds) via Discogs. Great band, mind-blowing hard rocking stoner, and it’s a shame they do not exist anymore. I have been wondering for years how in hell they are so many outstanding bands coming from Sweden, not that many from Finland. Maybe it’s the Gulf of Bothnia separating us Finns from the rest of civilization leaving us isolated with bands like Nightwish, Sonata Arctica etc.

The Graviators: Evil Deeds LP (orange)

graviatorsy

Better later than ever. The Graviators, I have come across the name of this group a few times but never bothered to check any of their records before. Been following some Facebook groups about stoner & doom and saw Robert Black (a guy behind one of my favorite DIY labels, DHU Records) posting a picture of this album there. After staring that picture a while I thought maybe I should check out this band at last. Damn! It was love at first sight. This album went straight to my Discogs “Wantlist”. Waited months & months for a decent deal and finally, a few weeks ago I managed to purchase this heavy rocking masterpiece! Yeah!!

Kongh: Counting Heartbeats 2xLP (green/black)

kongh

Finally, this debut album by Kongh has been on my “want list” for years and suddenly found a copy via Discogs for a very decent price. Even though this has been released 12 years ago it sounds quite fresh to me. Crushing doomed sludge or something.. I don’t care about labeling music for different genres. Brilliant record. This version is limited to 270 copies. Recommended one.

Jex Thoth: Totem 12″ (white)

jex_toth

Let’s start this marathon with some older release. This twelve-inch from Jex Thoth has been on my “wantlist” for ages and now it’s finally where it should have been years ago, in my record shelf. Got this cheap and in top condition (actually I was after another release and the seller had also listed this one for sale too). Awesome release indeed. Still missing their debut album, yeah I once had it but was stupid enough to sell it.. stupid people do stupid things..

Elder: Elder LP

elder

Found this, nearly pristine, copy of Elder’s first record from local record store. Have to admit that this band has been hiding in the darkness on my doomed path. Now that I’m listening to this album I just keep wondering how have I managed to avoid this band for so long. Maybe some day soon I learn from my mistakes. Timeless psychedelic-doomed-stoner album and place in my record rack is guaranteed. And what’s best, I didn’t pay myself sick  when I was buying this.

Demilich: Nespithe LP

demilich

Really don’t know what to say about this one. Is this Death Metal taken to outer limits, if I may say yes. Even though I was quite a big fan of this genre back in the days it’s funny that even living here in Finland I managed to pass this band totally. Now on my old days I’m trying to fix errors made on that era. This album was released on CD & cassette originally (that might be the reason I never came across it) and 16 years later, in 2009, it was released on vinyl (finally). What makes it so special to me are those vocals… and the fact this is Finnish band. Quite disturbing record and oh yes, I love it. If you wanna ruin your weekend, I honestly suggest you to check out this abomination. Repress (2018) available via Svart Records on few different color options.

Dopethrone: Dark Foil & III (bundle + poster)

dopethrone2

I’m so big fan of this band that I had to order these two once again (got original copies already) but hey, these are for heavy rotation. Ordered this bundle months ago but my order never reached me (seems that Postal delivery managed to lose my package) but now these beauties are here with me. Deep bow & humble thanks to Totem Cat Record for sending a replacement package even though this wasn’t TCR’s fault. Here we have a band whose music I will never be tired of listening to. Filthy, crude, dangerous but yet so beautiful. Can’t even wait for that newest one to arrive (and really hoping  that it will arrive safely into my arms). Awesome band & record label!

Sepultura: Beneath The Remains LP

sepultura

Found this classic album from Sepultura last weekend while visiting my hometown. It took nearly 25 years to get this back.. For me this is the best Sepultura album from start to very end. Quite nice copy even though there are some wearing on the cover but the record itself is in nearly perfect condition. Even though I’m hunting down these oldies & goldies from my past I haven’t seen that much copies of this record and f I had, those have been in terrible condition. Yeah, I’m happy with this one. The circle has closed at last and I have all three Sepultura albums I need -> Schizophrenia, Beneath The Remains & Arise.

Death: Symbolic LP (RE, white)

death - symbolic

I’m not that good at purchasing re-issues but sometimes there is no other choice. My history with Death is confined to three albums, Leprosy, Spiritual Healing & Human. When this album appeared I was already moving forward in my adventures in the miraculous world of music. Few years back I started hoarding these treasures of my own time back and I found this masterpiece “again”. The fact was, however, that the original version was beyond my reach because of those prizes they are asking for it at Discogs & Ebay. Few months ago I found this re-issue via Discogs and was forced to order a copy (actually I bought black version but got white one instead). Since I heard “Leprosy” at the first time I knew that this band was (and still is) the king of its genre. Awesome album this surely is and have been spinning under the needle almost daily last few months.

Orange Goblin: Thieving From The House Of God LP (orange)

orange goblin

That album from Dozer ain’t the only little treasure I picked up from that local record store of ours. Original copy of Orange Goblin’s Thieving From The House of God in nearly perfect condition and also this one I got very cheap. I already have few albums from Goblin (Frequencies From Planet Ten & Time Travelling Blues) and this one is nice addition to my collection. For those who are after this one on wax, there’s good news because Rise Above is re-pressing this album along their first four albums. Nice!

Bathory: Hammerheart LP

bathory

Finally, one of the greatest has returned home. Bought this original copy from one domestic seller via Facebook market place. I paid 30€ for this and was quite relieved that the condition was this good, no disturbing noises while spinning under the needle. Cover has some marks but so what. Released 28 years ago and still sounds amazing. Great one, no doubt.

“When the wind cries out my name
And time has come for me to die
Then wrap me in my cape
And lay my sword down at my side

Then place me on a ship of Oak
And let it drift with tide
Let the flames purify my soul
On its way to hall up high”

Egypt: Egypt 12″ (green)

egypt

Once again a band I haven’t heard before (shame on me..).Bought this as used just because I got it quite cheap. Nice die-cut cover if I may say. Well, now that I have listened this few times I have to say I kinda like this band a lot (lucky me because I bought this without knowing what was coming). Haa, now I have another band to follow. This version is limited to 125 copies and it seems that copies have been moving via Discogs with decent prize tags on them. Nice mini-album indeed and I really have to check out their other albums too.

At Death’s Door – A Collection Of Brutal Death Metal LP

at death's door

Hah! I blame this record for my addiction for Death Metal. I remember buying this record (in 90’s) just because the cover looked so awesome (and was stupid enough to sell it years ago..). Oh boys & girls.. On that moment started my on/off relationship with older Death Metal. Awesome collection even though there are few more-like Thrash metal bands included like Exhorder & Cerebral Fix (and even Sepultura). This has been on my wantlist for years  and now I got me a decent version for decent prize. Hell Yeah!!

Malevolent Creation: The Ten Commandments LP

malevolent

Hey, that’s not a stain nor fault on the vinyl you see on the picture, it’s just a reflection of ceiling lamp. To the point -> Been hunting down these early nineties death metal releases for some time now and weeks ago I managed to grab this one from Malevolent Creation. Never managed to hold this release on my hands back then, actually I only read some reviews from Metal Hammer but never came across with a physical copy. Can’t say what is it with these ancient releases, maybe it’s kind of nostalgic feeling around these albums. Or maybe is just the fact that in my opinion Death Metal was at it’s best around those years. Great album.

Entombed: Same Difference LP

entombed

Entombed is Entombed, what else can I say. Maybe not the one of the greatest record this band has done but surely it’s still rough diamond compared to punch of other bands & their records. Entombed has always been so close to my heart that I just can’t say anything bad about their records. Few years ago this album was repressed with crowd funding like few other their records. I had a copy of that repress but some evil force made me sell that one and go after original. Now I got this and my soul can rest for few seconds before going after few ones I still miss.

“yeah, you better know my name
I’ve come this far
to play the game
first things first
and then I ride
turn my head
side to side
…same difference”

Incubator: ‎Mc Gillroy The Housefly LP

incubator

Don´t know about you but I think that this album by Incubator, “Mc Gillroy The Housefly”, goes straight to my top ten of early 90′ death metal albums. I came across with this album few weeks ago, never heard about this band before. I was checking out my “wantlist” on Discogs and somehow I found myself listening to this album via Youtube. Bought the vinyl via Discogs while it was available and now it has been spinning on my turntable daily. Death/Doom (seasoned with some twisted psychedelic elements) at it’s best if you ask my opinion. Now I’m forced to hunt down their debut.. damn it!

Entombed: To Ride, Shoot Straight And Speak The Truth 2xLP

enska

Yeeeeeessssss… after years & years hunting process is finally over. This brilliant album has found its way to me. Bought this from some Discogs seller because he had quite reasonable prize on it. Records are in damn good condition and even cover.. well, it could have been in perfect condition before this seller decided to ship it with those worst ever mailers (I have talked about in few of my previous posts). Some corners of the cover has taken some hit during shipping but I decided to keep this one. Thing that pisses me most is that I asked the seller to secure those corners of the mailer and he decided not to. Well, here it is and I love it, even with smashed corners. Few more original copies from Entombed and my heart is filled with looooove. Actually at this very moment “Same Difference” in original format is on the way to me.. I think.
