Ил: Ересь LP (dark green)

il

I don’t even know how to pronounce the name of this band but it doesn’t matter much, let the music speak for itself. The band is from Russia and I’m totally lost is this their fourth or fifth full-length (correct me if I’m wrong). Darkened, doomed sludge might be the correct categorization if this recording should be placed under some genre. Personally, I don’t care so much about genres because what the ear hears means more than compartmentalization. A great package, both musically and externally. Available through the band’s BandCamp website. Really hope that their previous records would see the daylight in vinyl format someday..

Amammoth: The Fire Above LP (yellow)

amammoth

Nice newcomer, actually I have no idea if they’ve been around for years, but this album is my first contact with this group. Heavy doomed sludge with crawling vocals, not bad performance at all. Amammoth, I welcome you with my hands wide open and hope to hear from you in the future. Special thanks to Electric Valley Records for bringing this beast into daylight. Still available from the source and while you’re visiting EVR I suggest you to check those other available records too ..

Domkraft: Seeds LP (red)

domkraft

Damn .. A new record from Domkraft, and of course I had to get it, no doubt about it. I am very attached to the band’s apocalyptic soundscape, their way of wrapping together doom & sludge metal with some psychedelic mix. Bought this red version of the record and skipped that Box Set (way too expensive for me and I’m not ready to pay that much for a seven-inch, LP, CD, booklet, and some prints). I’m happy with this version I have (saved some money for a few other albums I have on my want list). Anyways, this record is an amazing soundtrack for the apocalypse to come. The Box Set and red-colored version are still available for example from Kozmik Artifactz.

Fulanno: Nadie Está A Salvo Del Mal LP + Test Pressing

fulanno

Fulanno with their latest one, never letting you down. I just love their music (even though I have no idea what they are singing about). These South American bands have stole some special place in my heart nowadays. As we already know, Fulanno comes from Argentina and they have a unique approach to their doomed sludge/stoner filled way to produce these tunes. Ordered a test pressing from Interstellar Smoke Records but received a normal version instead, luckily the error was corrected by the record company immediately and I received the version I ordered with a delay of a few days. After all, I ended up redeeming the incorrectly delivered normal version as well because returning it would have been disproportionately expensive. I’m happy with both versions I have! For those who are after the vinyl version of this recording .. Discogs / Ebay are platforms because Interstellar Smoke Records has sold this out.

Earthbong: Bong Rites 2xLP (secret stash edition)

earthbong

Here’s some heavy shit in form of Earthbong. Never heard of this band before so it was time to grab myself by the neck and let these riffs tear my soul to pieces. This German band manages to crush my shine & happy world to deepest and darkest hole on earth. Released by one of my favourite labels, Black Farm Records. Because I have learned to trust the quality of certain record labels, I usually make purchase decisions without listening in advance to the records they release. It has become a way to surprise myself. And I was totally blown away with this one! For those who are interested, this is still available from the source, Black Farm Records (even though this color variation is long gone, there are still regular ones available).

Bongzilla: Weedsconsin LP (cornetto)

bongzilla

Subconsciously, I’ve been waiting years for a new album from this American sludge monster. And now that a new album unexpectedly (at least for me) came out via Heavy Psych Sounds, it was a must-buy for me. Dirty & Evil sounding sludge / stoner / doom in this format is just honey to my ears. Bongzilla will not disappoint, ever. This vinyl version sold out very quickly but there are still nice looking (and sounding) variants available for example from the source, Heavy Psych Sounds, Kozmik Artifactz, Stickman Records  just to mention a few possible marketplaces. Yeah!

Switchblade Jesus: Death Hymns LP (purple)

jesus_00

Got this latest from Switchblade Jesus via Cursed Tongue Records along with that Sumoken album I posted earlier. A band I’ve known for years but never managed to get familiar with. Once again an error that has now been corrected. Stoner / doom (and I’m honestly hearing strong Speed/Thrash Metal influences here) is the name of the game, obviously, and hell yeah I love these furious tunes that are penetrating the fragile cranium. Here I am wondering how on earth I managed to dodge the repertoire of this band until now? Damn. Recommended one and still available from the source, CTR! Get a copy, you obviously need one like I do.

Sumokem: Prajnaparadha LP (oxblood)

sumoken_00

Do you ever purchase albums without hearing a single note from them in advance? I do, sometimes. That’s what happened here, I bought this from Cursed Tongue Records along with another record (I’ll come back to that other record another time). What we have here is the second full-length from Sumokem. Their debut was released a few years back and I clearly remember skipping it, the reason could be that I simply didn’t have the money at that time to invest in records. Shame on me! But back to this one, this is mere perfection from start to finish. Progressive, doomed stoner / sludge with a classic metal twist and I’m speechless at this moment. Maybe it’s just better that you check out this record all by yourself because my words don’t do justice. A-W-E-S-O-M-E! Go and grab a copy while you still can, available from the source, CTR or for example from Kozmik Artifactz. Those floating around the States can grab a copy from The Cosmic Peddler.

Betelzeus: Congolese Sterilization LP (magenta/clear)

betezeus

Ha! In your face! From my recent hometown comes Betelzeus with Congolese Sterilization. It’s damn nice to see/hear that there’s actual stoner/doom/sludge scene in this godforsaken backyard called Finland (and someone dares to call us Finns the happiest people in the world, fuck it!). Thanks to Interstellar Smoke Records for releasing this on vinyl, tape version I purchased from the local record store earlier last year. Pissed off sludge/doom in best physical format ever. Highly recommended piece of art!  Available from the source,  Interstellar Smoke Records.

Widows: Oh Deer God LP (black)

_widows

Now I have to say that 5£ prize tag on this album is like stealing.. Oh Deer God by Widows is album filled with some stoner/sludge & doomed/bluesy riff-rock. This musical mayhem has been dragged under the sun about 3 years ago and seems that it is still very alive. Don’t know if the band is still active but would love to hear from them in the future. Good one, really good! I should have paid little more than 5£ from this one.. shame on me. Check out this via their BandCamp site and if you like what you’re hearing, buy it.

Ruff Majik : Tårn LP (yellow/red spatter)

ruff

Over a month ago I got the latest album from Ruff Majik, The Devil’s Cattle, and decided to get the band’s previous recordings as well. I followed Thomas Bleuze’s advice and started with Ruff Majik’s previous album, Tårn. This record has been on my shopping list for some time and now it’s here. It’s annoyingly hard to place this band in any particular genre, it’s a strange mix of groovy garage-doom-stoner-blues and whatever.. a great band and I’m just looking forward to which direction they’re going to steer us in the future. The album is still available via Lay Bare Recorings. Recommended, highly!

Beastwars: IV LP (white/blue splatter)

beastwars

While hunting down that Mexicoma album I posted about earlier, I came across this beauty. Beastwars is one of those bands whose records have been on my “wantlist” for ages and finally I got me one those. The band comes from New Zealand and little do I know about them. Stoner/doom with unique touch and I love this band even more now that I have been spinning this record numerous times.. If you fancy a copy, I know where to get one.. Greatest Hits Mailorder is the place.

Oh how you count the days
And the nights slip away
And the storm and it’s rage
War, the hell, every place

LáGoon: Father Of Death 12″ (white)

LaGoon

Some time a go I purchased LáGoon’s album “Maa Kali Trip” and promised to myself that I’m gonna hunt down all recordings this band has released. Well, I didn’t have to wait too long because Interstellar Smoke Recordings released this one. Really difficult to describe which genre this band could fit into, some kinda mix of surf-garage-skate-stoner-doom or something. But who cares, record sounds amazing and I’ll continue hunting down those previous ones. Available via BandCamp (Interstellar has sold out copies they had).

Lucifungus: Derek LP (secret stash edition)

derek

Some really nasty doomed sludge/stoner from Australia brought to you by Black Farm Records. Band is called Lucifungus and this is their second album named as “Derek”. Debut album Akuma Kin stole my attention a few years ago (still under some heavy rotation) and when this new one was announced the purchase decision was obvious. This is “secret stash” edition, limited to 100 copies, and sad to say it’s sold out (surprise, surprise) but you still can grab a orange-colored version from the source, Black Farm Records. Recommended!

Laser Dracul: Hagridden LP (clear/red/splatter)

Laser dragul

Thanks to Majestic Mountain Records for introducing this Swedish group to me. One more album to prove the superiority of the Swedes while watching my record shelf, damn. This album will take you to deep forest where beams of sun can’t reach you, place where you’ll feel alive again. Great album forcing me to check out their previous album as soon as possible. Still available from the source, Majestic Mountain Records and for example from bands BandCamp site.

Ruff Majik: The Devil’s Cattle LP (yellow with red splatter)

ruff majik

Yeah, I’ve known this band for some time but after listening this latest album I was sold. This band has a rather unique approach to this genre (or can this music even be categorized into any particular genre ..). Somehow this reminds me distantly of QOTSA but they are certainly doing everything with their own style. Now that I’m under the spell of this South-African band, I’m going after their previous albums. I ordered this beauty via Black Farm Records (just checked that BFR has sold out copies they had) but you still can get your hands on this via Just Direct. Really hope there would be easier way to grab this one, but at this moment I can’t find better solution than Just Direct..

Slow Green Thing: Amygdala LP (clear)

slow2

Slow Green Thing from Germany and their latest release, Amygdala. I’ve been familiar with this band’s name but it took way too long to check out their records, shame on me. A few weeks ago I suddenly listened this one via BandCamp and purchased physical version immediately after first song I heard. Love the slow, groovy heaviness wrapped with almost ethereal vocals. Music like this is meant to listen via headphones with maximum volume. Available from the band via their BandCamp site and I suggest you to check out their other available albums too (I bought their previous album, III, along this one).

Your Portfolio Archive currently has no entries. You can start creating them on your dashboard.

Bongtower: Oscillator 2xLP (white/black merged)

bongtower

Here’s some love from Russia in the form of Bongtower. Oscillator is Bongtower’s first vinyl release and have to say that this love is heavy, crushingly heavy. I’m not that familiar with the Russian stoner / doom scene but this band sounds amazing! Great Blend of space / stoner / doom & sludge. Deep bow in the direction of Hand of Doom for releasing this beast from below / above. Limited to 250 copies and still available via Hand of Doom. Get a copy before it’s too late.

Mammon’s Throne: Forward Unto Flame LP (splatter)

mammoth

Here’s some heavy riffs straight to your face. This Melbourne based doomed/stoner outfit is delivering us some crushing tunes with their debut album. Released by Black Farm Records a few months ago and it has been under the stylus numerous times during the past couple of weeks. Highly recommended if darker/heavier stoner/doom makes you stomp your feet. This awesome looking version and other color variant still available from the source, Black Farm Records. Check this out!

Old Horn Tooth: From The Ghost Grey Depths 2×12” (purple)

00_horn
I bought this one on cassette version earlier this year, and now I got a vinyl version too. If I remember right, there was some kind of crowdfunding around the vinyl version and I missed it totally. A few months ago the band put some copies  of this purple version for sale on their BandCamp site (actually there’s still 3 copies left of this version) and I instantly grabbed a copy.  Thing with this band is their slow, dirty doomed mix of sludge & fuzzed stoner. Listening these four (over ten minutes long) tracks surely makes me wanna do some evil things.. Highly recommended one.
