Holy sh**.. !! I picked this one from the local post office a few days ago (after paying taxes etc..). This is Firebreather, crushing doomed stoner monster, from (surprisingly) Sweden. Pure ear candy from the first track to the last one. Released by Riding Easy Records and this variation is limited to 75 copies (should have been red with black splatter but my version is more or less just red). All color variations still available from the source and if […]
I almost skipped this little treasure when it still was available (actually I just had some issues with my budget at that time). Fortunately, I came to my senses and decided to invest my pennies in what I love. These guys from Canada have stolen my heart with their southern influenced, stoner fueled rock ‘n’ roll. The band sounds awesome and like so many times before Cursed Tongue Records have managed to release an outstanding record. This variant is long […]
Fourth album by this Swedish fuzz king, Monolord. Album after another this band manages to wrap me around its finger (or is that even a proper saying?). Damn, this album is fueled by fuzzy, doomed sadness… like that tittle of the album, there’s no comfort on this album. Brilliant release. This variant is limited to 100 copies and it’s long gone, but do not worry because there are plenty of not-that-limited variants available via Relapse US / Relapse EU. Certainly […]
This instrumental stoner/sludge/doom abomination arrived earlier this week. I almost skipped this one because of term “instrumental”… Now that I got this here with me, I’m quite happy that I didn’t. Crushing & heavy this surely is and who needs vocals when the music itself is leading the story? Limited to 300 copies on transparent green vinyl. The band has sold out vinyl copies but there’s still cassette version available via their BandCamp site. I found at least one place […]
Missed this one 4 years ago, don’t ask me why because I can’t remember. Bought this via Discogs, from the same seller as that Holy Serpent album I posted about earlier. Single-sided twelve-inch record limited to 100 copies and released by STB Records. Three tunes filled with doomed sludge, so nothing can go wrong with this. Nice one.
Hey, what is happening here? Why I haven’t heard about this band before? Waingro has released two albums before this newest one and I’ve been out of the map with these recordings. Thanks to Sludgelord Records for releasing this third album and presenting this group to me.. Waingro hits hard with their stoner fueled, heavy rocking sound. You can purchase this via band’s BandCamp site and EU customers via Sludgelord Records. I have seen the light.
Truth is that when the vinyl is not an option, then you go for CS (really hope that someone out there would release this on vinyl). Old Horn Tooth with this doomed, noisy stoner/sludge-filled tape stole my attention immediately as I heard this tape via BandCamp. This green copy is from the first press (limited to 25 copies) and there’s also a second press released on purple cassette (also limited to 25 copies). The sad truth is that both versions […]
Finally, this debut album by Kongh has been on my “want list” for years and suddenly found a copy via Discogs for a very decent price. Even though this has been released 12 years ago it sounds quite fresh to me. Crushing doomed sludge or something.. I don’t care about labeling music for different genres. Brilliant record. This version is limited to 270 copies. Recommended one.
Track number 2 and 11 seconds. Within those 11 seconds, I made my mind and bought this album. Kannabinõid comes from Estonia and this sludge/stoner/doom/metal-filled album has stolen my heart & soul. This album titled “3” seems to be their second full-length and what an album it is. Limited to 200 copies and available via their BandCamp site. Just check out this monstrous beauty, I’m going after their debut one. Special thanks to the one who packed & shipped this, […]
This box set by Eremit arrived nearly 6 months ago, shame on me… that I haven’t had time for this one until now. This one is heavy, and I really mean that. The band is from Germany and this is their debut album (and if you ask me, this is freaking amazing for debut album.. or album at all). I bought this box set (limited to 50 copies) via Transcending Obscurity and seems that they have sold out all vinyl […]
Somehow I have managed to avoid this band for some time, don’t ask me why because I have no idea. Was surfing around BandCamp and suddenly decided to check this album out. Well.. It took only a few minutes to purchase “Alruna” from Argonauta Records after listening to that first track. This one is heavy, doomed and at the same time so gooooood. Now that this band has stolen my attention, I must get their debut I have managed to […]
And what about this monstrous abomination filled with filthy fuzz, moss, mushrooms, and some secret green stuff? Lucifungus from Australia with their debut album (correct me if I’m wrong) “Akuma Kin”. Doomed stoner rock/metal and Hell Yeah I freaking love this record! Some might say that this sounds like Canadian Dopethrone, but more you listen, more you know. F**king awesome release. This came through Black Farm Records some time ago and this color variation (limited to 100 copies) is long […]
Even though I’m not that big fan of split releases, I had to purchase this one from Black Tomb / Crud released by Totem Cat Records. Filthy split mixed with darkened doom/stoner/death metal, in other words, beauty. Still available from the source, Totem Cat Records, TCR edition & regular edition.
Came across with this band via Bandcamp, listened only one track and I was sold. This doomed stoner/sludge album is filled with darkness & despair and surprise, I love it! Once again awesome band from Sweden and it makes me wonder how in hell that country can provide outstanding bands one after another… If you like getting lost in the darkness I suggest you to check this beast out, like I did. Now I just have to get my hands […]
And once again it has been way too long since I have updated this blog.. It does not mean that I have given up, it’s mainly because I don’t have that much time nowadays.. But let’s start with this cassette that arrived today. Ungraven.. waited for this to arrive so freaking long that I almost gave up but here it is. And if you didn’t already know, this industrial-blackened-heavy-sludge release has something to with Jon Davis (Conan).. Holy hell, I […]
This abomination arrived last week and I have kept it hidden in the basement since that day.. Blah blah, actually it has been right beside my turntable, waiting to get some serious spinning. That day was today. This ain’t nice record at all, it’s kinda abnormity of doomed death/sludge.. something sick and I just love it! This record is intended to be played at the highest possible volume and have to admit it’s quite purifying experience. Limited to 75 copies […]
This doomed one moves as slow as tectonic plates (embraced by eternal darkness) deep under the surface of the earth. Ommadon and their perfectly titled latest album, “End Times”. With only two-track on this album and they manage to crush your little life down under the ground. Never heard about this band before this album I came across while surfing around BandCamp. As said before this slow, crushing doomed (sludge) record keeps grinding your fragile bones slowly to dust. Limited […]
Been a while but still here. This latest from Domkraft was one of the last albums I got last year. Was after that most limited version but got tired of hunting it so I ordered this color variation (makes me wonder why in hell I always try to get that most limited version..). Third album I own from this awesome doom/space/sludge group, and still loving every tune they put out. Hypnotic release with awesome illustration. This color version is limited […]
Don’t know if the band called Lurk say anything to anyone but here’s their latest album, Fringe. Have to admit that there’s only handful of domestic bands I follow nowadays, and Lurk wasn’t included until now. Years ago I bought Lurk’s debut album from their drummer (we worked under the same employer back then, as well as singer of Coughdust, guitarist of Korpiklaani etc.). Anyways, missed few of their previous records but few months ago I came across with this […]
Bought this one few months ago. This is my first touch with this group, Thanks to Creep Purple (awesome site promoting stoner/doom/sludge etc. releases). I like this record, it’s heavy, it’s loud. This version with backpatch & rolling paper was limited to 25 copies and long gone by now (for obvious reasons). If you like stoner/space/sludge/hardcore/metal then this could be one for you. Oh, white copy (limited to 100 copies) & regular black one still available via band’s BandCamp site. […]
Album I have been waiting for months to be released and yesterday it suddenly arrived at my doorsteps. Windhand is one of those bands I have been following for years now and my love towards this group is getting stronger album by album. Dorthia Cottrell’s solo album, released three years ago via Forcefield Records, was one of my favorite ones during 2015. Upcoming weekend I’ll spend some quality time with this newest one for sure. This so-called “Boxset” is limited […]
Yet again killer release from DHU Records and this time it’s Witch Ripper’s debut album called “Homestead”. Monstrous riff fueled album filled with crushing stoner/sludge/doom/whateveryouwannacallit metal. These vocals remind me of some band whose name I can’t get out of my blurry brain. Anyways, really like this album even though listening it numerous times on repeat makes me wanna bang my cranium against the wall. This version is DHU exclusive, limited to 90 copies and still available from the source, […]
I’m so big fan of this band that I had to order these two once again (got original copies already) but hey, these are for heavy rotation. Ordered this bundle months ago but my order never reached me (seems that Postal delivery managed to lose my package) but now these beauties are here with me. Deep bow & humble thanks to Totem Cat Record for sending a replacement package even though this wasn’t TCR’s fault. Here we have a band whose […]
Today, exactly six years ago I started to write this blog. The journey has been challenging and at the same time rewarding but still on several occasions I have been ready to toss the gloves into a corner.. However, during my darkest hours I have come across some new, stunnig records, which have inspired me to continue this journey, to spread the word. Eternal Black’s Bleed The Days is one of those records. This record is filled with fuzzed, doomed stoner and it sounds dark and […]
One of those bands & records I bought only based on the recommendation by local record store owner. And once again he was right about the fact that this record is a little treasure on domestic scale at least. Blending doomed stoner to hazy psychedelic sludge the band has managed to put out quite impressing album. Funny thing here is the fact that the grass ain’t much greener on the other side of the fence after all. So here I […]
Last week I got this album from Morag Tong. Spotted the band via BandCamp and listened the album few times.. I was sold (like so many times before). Last Knell of Om is a monstreous mixture of doomed sludge/stoner with heavy psychedelic influences. Band is mixing so many styles & genres that the result is near perfection Picking this album you just can’t go wrong and surely one of those albums that should have been sold out long ago. Highly […]
This I picked up from the Post office today, album titled “Methistopheles” from group called Sixes. This is heavy, literally, filled with dirty sludge/stoner/doom/crust & darkness. Evil stuff released by Poisoned Mind Records (one of my favorite ones). This is still available from the source, even that deluxe edition I chose not to purchase this time (little low on money because this doomed house of mine is sucking all the extra pennies). This version here is “Acid God” one (limited […]
And here’s a one I waited so much that I even purchased tape version even though I vinyl version preordered. Heard about this band (and their debut album) first time through STB Records few years ago. I bought that debut album straight away and since STB signed the band I have been waiting for more. Here it is now, Olde’s second album and damn this is good. If you like your stoner/sludge/doom played with hint of hardcore mixed in it, […]
Never got a chance to get any of those Emetic records versions (I was at work while those came available and I missed the one I was after, then I missed all the other versions..). Hopefully all mighty STB Records came to rescue all of us who were left behind & announced repressing this one. Die hard version was little too expensive (with shipping) to me so I snagged this Obi version instead. Whole package came in perfect condition (like […]
Damn, just remember that I got this latest from Monolord months ago and haven’t said a word about it. Yes, I purchased this “poor man’s” semi die-hard version from Riding Easy Records (couldn’t afford to purchase neither that “Faux Leather” nor “Denim” version) and like I said it has been here with me sometimes now. This version was limited to 100 copies with some kind of printed extra cover (nice way to add some extra price to album..). Anyways, once […]
Yeah, filling my head with these filthy, evil sounds produced by this awesome sludge/doom band. Even though I’m not that big fan of single/ep releases this was must buy for me,, hey, it’s Dopethrone. Twelve-inch arrived nearly two weeks ago from one of my favorite labels, Totem Cat Records. Great release and really hope to hear from this band soon. Limited to 600 single-sided copies with etching on the B-side (300 on black & 300 on red). Funny thing is […]
DamnHellYes!! Faces Of The Bog and their debut album “Ego Death” that arrived from DHU Records last week. I have reached the point that I do not even have to listen a single note from the albums some labels are putting out (labels like DHU, STB, Poisoned Mind, Totem Cat etc.), with these labels I can go blindly just because they have been releasing pure diamonds lately. Back to the Bog. This record has it all, stoner/psych/sludge/doom/space/metal etc. combined perfectly […]
Last week as I walked down to the local record store I already knew what I was about to purchase. This record from Eyehategod had been hanging on the wall there about 3-4 months and now it was time to take it home. Now I have to admit that this is my first Eyehategod album ever… Better later than ever though. Now that I’m listening this album it’s quite strange how in hell I have managed to skip this band […]
Never heard about this band? Don’t worry, me neither until I read a review of this (their second) album from Sludgelord some weeks ago. Damn-shit-hell this album is kicking my fat ass totally. This sounds dirty, dangerous and that makes it beautiful. Mixture of sludge, stoner, metal. punk etc. and I’m really enjoying this record. Worth to check out if you haven’t already done that. I have no clue about limitation of this vinyl release but so what, really hope […]
More filthy metal for your ears. This is Crud and their debut(?) album called “Resin”. Damn this sounds evil, filthy, dangerous and these are elements I like when listening this kind of music. Sludge/doom with nearly grindcore-like vocals. This album is released by one awesome label, Totem Cat Records (I really like these smaller labels like DHU Records, STB Records, Poisoned Mind etc.). Pressed on purple/black haze vinyl (limited to 300 copies, 47 copies of those comes with exclusive screenprinted […]
Here we go.. Latest from In The Company Of Serpents and this is literally crushing every bone I held on this carcass of mine. This album was one of those “must have” items for me because I missed their previous twelve-inch “Merging In Light” and I still can’t forgive that mistake. About four years ago I heard this band the very first time via BandCamp and I’ve loved it since that moment I held their debut, “Of The Flock”, in my […]
I don’t know about you but sometimes (most of the time) it feels like there’s no time to listen to all those bands I would like to. Have to admit that I had never ever listened to Cough before this album I found from the local record store couple of weeks ago. This album (like so many other) has been hanging on my “wantlist” for ages and now I had an opportunity to get it for decent prize. Well.. this damn […]
Some Grief to this early morning. Found this pristine, unplayed copy from the local record store some time ago (warehouse find/or from the owners own collection). Have to say that there’s no better way to wake up to new day than a pint of Guinness and a full-length of crushing doom. Thing I love the most is that he prize I paid or this was ridiculous compared to those Discogs prizes. I had this on CD format years ago and […]
Earlier this year I purchased Domkraft’s debut album and I just loved it. I still love it. Now I have their second album in my hands. Damn-hell-yes!! This second one will crush you. I don’t really know what to say but with their psychedelic-sludge-space-doom they have indeed taken their place in my record rack, forever. Recommended band, both of their albums are awesome and both still available. I chose this color variation just because same colors can be seen on the […]
Yes, this is a record that have been under heavy rotation on this household lately. Freaking awesome blend of blackened metal, doomed sludge etc. One word, brilliant. And after these resent bad experiences with some labels (european) when it comes to packaging & shipping vinyl records, this record came from states without any freaking damages. One of those records I will never, ever gonna get rid of. This is limited to 300 copies and available from the Accident Prone. Honestly […]
Damn nice to see/hear some new stuff from this band. Biggest thing is that Shroud Eater has signed to STB Records (Yes! running around the house, naked). Two new songs and still love the way they express themselves. Doomed sludge/stoner/metal, so can you even ask for more? This color variation shown in the picture above is limited to 50 copies and sold out quite fast, Don’t worry there’s still few different variations available, transparent blue/black (damn, it looks delicious) limited to […]
This latest 10″ from Monolord came on Friday. Lately it has been very difficult to me justify my purchases from US just because of those shipping costs. This is Clearspot exclusive version, on red wax and limited to 100 copies. Happy with this one and saved some euros along the way. Oh, and about the record itself, well, just listen it by yourself. I have been a Monolord fan for some time so obviously I love this release. Grab a […]
Second-hand item picked from the local record store. It’s always nice to find something you have been searching and last week I scored once again. Knut and their awesome sludge/hardcore/math/noise release “Terraformer” and oh, this is also the most limited color variation of this record (limited to 100 copies). Not a bad deal at all considering the prize I paid of it. Now I have to after those previous releases too.. damn.
And another one of few second-hand items I grabbed few weeks ago. It’s quit strange to find records like this from the local record store.. but hey I’m happy for two reason, I was missing this record and the second reason is that I did not pay that much from this copy. No words about this band, everyone knows what we are talking about here. This copy is that original japanese version (Salvation/Let There Be Doom release), Hell yeah!
Ha! Sometimes even I am lucky enough to find something interesting with decent numbers on the prize tag. I got this (second-hand item) Church Of Misery album from the local record store and as you can see, on clear vinyl. I had this album on black wax years ago but I gave it to a friend just because he needed it more than me. That was then and now is now and the circle is closed. I’m happy with this […]
Hmm.. This came from Throne Records last week (or was it even earlier.. can’t remember). My first touch with this band and it was, still is, quite warm and gentle. This album is filled with avantgardish, doomed, drone-sludge-post rocking neofolk or something.. sorry that I’m so bad at tagging these genres. Stunning mixture of everything I love to listen. This limited (75 copies on swamp green vinyl), numbered version is still available from the source, Throne Records. Recommended.
Got this new one from Sumac last week. Like we all know there are some members of Isis & Russian Circles involved with this totally heavy, sludge group and this is their second long-play. I like this one a lot (missed their debut album back then) and really love the atmosphere on this one, it’s heavy & crushing. Available to pre-order from Thrilljockey / or straight from the band’s MerchTable page (both sources have sold out those colored variations). There was these clear […]
Hey all you doomsters/sludgeheads/psychfreaks out there! I suggest you to check this band just because this album is totally worth your time. Brume and their album called “Donkey”. I came across with this band while I was surfing around Vinyl Collective forums. Don’t know about you but I really like what I’m hearing on this album (actually I’m not hearing anything but the sound of vacuum cleaner at this moment just because my better half decided to wake up our […]
I still remember how hard this band hit me first time I heard their second album “Feather And Stone”.. (same effect as with Black Breath’s “Razor To Oblivion”). I do not know what happened, but in some strange way, this particular band was buried somewhere in the depths of my memory and I have not listened to it in years.. Until I discovered that a new album was about to be released. Really love their straightforward way of playing sludged/doomed […]
Yep, I bought the latest Conan on silver vinyl (limited to 200 copies), not on orange with black splatter (limited to 300 copies & looks damn good) and the reason is simple, there was only silver copies left when I pre-ordered this. Well, it’s not about the color of the vinyl that matters, it’s the music on it. I have been a big fan of Conan since their first album, Horseback Battle Hammer, and this was must buy for me […]
