Today is a great day to listen this latest Sonic Pieces’ release, Minor Planet by Midori Hirano. Never heard about this artist before and this is what I love about Sonic Pieces, they always manage to surprise me. This Midori Hirano’s album sounds beautiful, it’s an album filled with ambient elements, some may call it modern classical, experimental electronics is what I say. Anyways, I really hope to hear from this Japanese artist in future just because this album surely leaves a mark on my blackened soul. Haunting beauty, limited to 450 copies. I really suggest you to grab a copy while you still can. Stara Rzeka: Zamknęły Się Oczy Ziemi 2xLP (clear)

Woah! I just listened this album through and what a haunting beauty this is! This is the reason why I still keep on collecting records (even though I have been slowing down lately just because of that Terra Tenebrosa’s shipping fiasko few weeks ago). This double album arrived from Poland in sturdy mailer, in perfect condition. Stara Rzeka (as far as I know) is a one-man band of Polish Jakub Ziolek. He is blending different genres successfully in his music; ambient, drone, psychedelic, folklore, noise etc. One of those records you have to experience by yourself..  This awesome album is still available on regular black wax from the source, Instant Classics. Clear copies (like mine) were limited to 100 copies and unfortunately those are already gone. I suggest you to purchase this via BandCamp, because then you’ll get a digital copy along with the psychical one.

Yes, new release from Alessandro Cortini. What can I say, brilliant record this is (like all the previous releases from this artist). There’s two tracks on this 12″ and I find this recording very dark, hopeless.. in other words it’s a beauty. I have no idea of limitation but this is available from numerous stores, for example from following ones Piccadilly Records, Norman Records, Red Eye Records. Grab a copy and step into the darkness. Sink: Ark of Contempt and Anger LP

Hmm.. actually I did not expected to hear these kind of soundwaves when I purchased this album. Lat time I listened this band they were playing some kind of mixture of droned blackened ambient or something. This time almost all those elements have been replaced with something more like experimental, coldwave, psychedelic, neofolk flavored ambient (hard to say). The most important thing is that I like these sounds. This is limited to 350 copies and available for example from the source, Svart Records.

Pye Corner Audio / Dalhous: Run For The Shadows EP 12″

Then some mind meltng electronics by Pye Corner Audio & Dalhous on this twelve-inch disc. I’m more than familiar with PCA’s music and that was the main reason for purchasing this ep. What really surprised me is that B-side and those two beautiful tracks by Dalhous. A side is fueled with darkness and on the B-side we still can see the sun even though it seems to be little dark… Stunning release! Limited to 250 copies and the source, Lapsus Records has already run out of copies. But hey, if you’re lucky enough you can grab a copy from Forced Exposure (US) or from Sounds of the Universe (UK). Recommended!

Big thanks to  Avantgarde Music for sending me this copy, courier brought this directly to my door. Actually I ordered a copy of this blackened masterpiece few months ago but that record never reached me so I contacted the label and they sent me a copy straight away. Customer service at it’s best if I may say. Downfall Of Nur, Argentinian band playing their ambient, folk seasoned black metal on this atmospheric double album. Nice one indeed. This album is limited to 500 copies and you can still purchase it from the source, Avantgarde Music. Recommended release.

Latest vinyl release from Facture, Tape Loop Orchestra’s “Go Straight To The Light Of All That You Love”. This sold out in advance, when it was available to pre-order and near the official release date Boomkat sold out copies they had. I missed both dates. Yes, I bought my copy from some Discogs seller and paid little extra for it but this was “must buy” item for me. For those who are interested, this is a beautiful ambient/drone records surely not for every metalhead :) Album came with all kind of extras; CD, booklet, prints etc. all housed inside a hand-stitched glassine bag. Deluxe release indeed.

Western Skies Motel: Settlers LP

This may be the most beautiful electro acoustic, drone/ambient/folk release I have ever heard. Months ago I got this press kit to my email from Lost Tribe Sound..  Listened & pre-ordered the vinyl, yeah it was that easy. I got this physical copy last week and I’m more and more convinced that this release from Western Skies Motel will be on my to 3 as this year draws to a close. It’s that stunning, amazing & beautiful piece of art. Limited to 170 numbered copies and still available from Lost Tribe Sound (US). Recommended one and hurry, because there are only 11 copies on vinyl left..

Natural Snow Buildings: Terror’s Horns LP

My first proper release from this band (first copy of this album came damaged thanks to Juno). This is some kind of droned-experimental-ambient-psychedelic-horror-folk-trip to somewhere where time stands still, some place you do not want to be left alone. Haunting and beautiful is this album if you ask me. If you ever gonna purchase any album from this band, let it be this one. Available for example from Norman Records. Recommended.

Kumea Sound: Real Music For Unreal Times LP

Speechless.. never heard of this instrument (cupola) Lauri Wuolio is playing on this record, but it sounds way too mesmerizing to even exist. This record floats somewhere beyond ambient & world music, and I can’t find words to describe it. Just check out what Lauri himself has to say about his instrument. Limited to 300 copies and I honestly recommend this, one of my best discoveries via BandCamp, ever. Available from the source, Kumea Sound’s BC page. Check the video below..

Latest addition to my collection arrived today, Heroin In Tahiti and their resent full-length “Sun And Violence”. This was also one of those “wishlist” items of mine and finally I got it. Strange, experimental, psychedelic, folk, space-ambient or something like that but who cares about styles/genres when the album is as brilliant as this one is. I recommended this album on my “weekly list” months and months ago but it took this long for me to grab a copy.. I don’t know what this is but damn, it sounds good! Available from Boring Machines and it’s worth every penny!

Phil Collins yes, but not that one.This is a strange collaboration/compilation of ambient, electronical, kraut, experimental, industrial, etc.. music with artists like Pye Corner Audio, Heroin In Tahiti, Demdike Stare, David Sylvian just to name few. Strange record but some how very beautiful record. If you are interested to know more about this project I suggest you to visit Nero magazine. First pressing was limited to 500 copies and when it sold out there came 2nd pressing, identical to first one (hah hah.. for everyone who thought there was money to make by selling these on ebay etc.) Available from Forced Exposure (US) and from les presses du réel (ROW). Recommended stranger.

Haa.. The Secret Cosmic Music Of The East German Olympic Program 1972-83 Volume 3 on yellow vinyl (limited version, 160 copies with some postcards & promo-cd). Strange music from this strange project.. I have all three albums and I have found this mixture of ambient & krautrock very enjoyable. This “Über” limited version is surprisingly  sold out but there are still 340 less über versions floating around. Available for example from the source, project’s BandCamp site. Strange beauty.

Here’s an album from Huw Roberts. Huw uses Hidden Rivers as alias here on this beautiful ambient/downtempo record called Where Moss Grows. Don’t know about you but I didn’t know that he is also a one-half member of Nest (collaboration project with Otta A. Totland) and runs his own record label, Serein. It’s been a while since I have listened some ambient tunes and now I have to admit, boys & girls, experience is refreshing and mind melting. Recommended release from Serein (and Huw). Limited to 250 copies and first hundred copies came with hand-numbered 12″ print. Album is still available from the source.

And as you might guess, this is not hard & heavy nor blackened metal. this is Donato Dozzy and his latest full-length filled with experimental techno/ambient soundscapes. I just couldn’t resist purchasing this one because I really enjoyed his debut album, K. This white colored version is limited to 100 copies and surprisingly sold out but if you are interested of clearing your troubled minds with some twisted techno vibes Further Records is place to go. There are black colored copies available (edition of 900, so there still might be some available..)

Yesterday I got this one too.. this time on clear vinyl!

And here’s what I said about this release few posts earlier:
I’ve been staring at this monitor now for a while, I just don’t know what to write. I’m just listening.. It started with “The Crystal World” five years ago, listening. This band has been one of my favorite since. And because I’m not a critic nor musically talented I have no fancy words to describe this release and the music on it. In my own words; if you buy only one record this year, buy this one. Absolutely beautiful album embraced by darkness.. Stunning mixture of ambient (darkened), noise, experimental, blackened metal and so much more. This beauty/beast is limited to 250 copies on this silver-colored vinyl and 850 copies on electric blue wax. Of course there are also those 100 copies on clear vinyl but those are not available to purchase. This is all we need, this infinite dissolution. Amen.
